Information Literacy at QCC

Mission

The mission of the Library’s IL Instruction program is to support the College’s General Education Outcomes and to ensure, in partnership with classroom faculty, that QCC students acquire the information management skills needed for academic research and lifelong learning.

IL Instruction Services

QCC librarians offer IL instruction through several service options:

  • Course-Related Lecture – Librarian will meet with class/students for a single session designed to support a research assignment; content and learning objects will be agreed upon by faculty and librarian
  • Embedded Librarian – Librarian will meet with class/students for multiple sessions throughout semester; designed to support research- and writing-intensive classes; content and learning objectives will be agreed upon by faculty and librarian
  • Library Liaisons – Each academic department at QCC has been assigned a Library Liaison, who will serve as discipline’s first point of contact related to the Library’s sources and services
  • Research Consultations – Librarian will meet with individual faculty and students by appointment for customized research assistance
  • Reference Services – Point-of-need help can be found through the Library’s in-person, phone, email or chat reference services
