The Information Ecosystem of Students and Faculty at a Community College: Research Questions & Protocols

Protocols

Student Questionnaire: Ten-minute anonymous online questionnaire distributed to randomized sample of students via email.

Student Information Diary and Interview: For seven days, students captured their information needs and seeking in a diary using notes, screenshots, and photos. Students were interviewed for approximately 45 minutes after completion of the diary.

Student Personal Learning Environment Interview: Students were interviewed for approximately 60 minutes about their resources and processes for learning and completing course work.

Faculty Questionnaire: Ten-minute anonymous online questionnaire distributed to all full-time and part-time faculty via email.

Faculty Information Diary and Interview: For seven days, faculty captured their information needs and seeking in a diary using notes, screenshots, and photos. Faculty were interviewed for approximately 45 minutes after completion of the diary.

Faculty Personal Learning Environment Interview: Faculty were interviewed for approximately 60 minutes about their resources and processes for learning, teaching, and scholarship.
