What Is Misinformation & Disinformation? ​

• Misinformation: False information shared unintentionally​

• Disinformation: Deliberately fabricated falsehoods​

BEWARE of these Red Flags: 

• Sensational headlines or clickbait
• Emotional manipulation: does it seem like they are going out of their way to make you angry or sad?
• Lack of sources: what proof do they offer to back up their claims?

Social media algorithms are sets of rules that decide what shows up in your feed.

They take into account things like what you've liked or interacted with before, how relevant the content is, and how popular it is.

They can amplify biased content and create echo chambers​
