About the Presenter: Vikki Terrile

Vikki C. Terrile is an Assistant Professor and the Public Services and Assessment Librarian at Queensborough Community College, CUNY. She earned her MS in library science from Long Island University, and her MA in Urban Affairs from Queens College (CUNY) and is currently a doctoral student in education at SUNY, the University at Buffalo. 

Vikki was a public librarian for twenty years, working primarily in youth services and outreach, including work with families experiencing homelessness, youth in juvenile detention, men in a minimum security prison, and young men with severe emotional disabilities.  She reviews science fiction and fantasy fiction for Library Journal and is currently researching nonacademic information-seeking by community college students, how academic libraries support students’ basic needs, and the information practices of Renaissance Faire performers and artisans.  She is also interested in critical librarianship, children’s/young adult literature, and speculative fiction.
