Getting Better All the Time: Teaching Practices for Library Faculty: Advancing Teaching Partnerships with Classroom Faculty

Professional Development Day - Library Department at Queensborough Community College

About the Presenter: Haruko Yamauchi

Haruko Yamauchi is the library teaching coordinator (and liaison to pre-college programs) for Eugenio María de Hostos Community College (CUNY). Her publications include an article on the library's collaboration with the CLIP program at Hostos, an article about progressive urban (public) librarian training programs in the late 60s/early 70s, and a lesson plan introducing students with little library experience to call numbers.  She comes to librarianship after a decade of facilitating arts education residencies, working to build strong collaborations between the professional musicians, actors, dancers, and visual artists who provided direct instruction and the K-12 classroom teachers who welcomed these visiting instructors into their classrooms.

Pre-Activity

Please identify one classroom faculty name on your IL assisgnment list - with whom you have a 'medium' relationship. In other words, one of your assigned names who lands somewhere in between “we have never spoken” and “we co-authored an article”! The person can be from any department i.e. ENGL, SP or your liaison department. And no need to do anything with that name in advance; just have it in mind.
