ENGL 101 Matheson: Books

Textbooks on Reserve

The Library has most course textbooks "on reserve," which means that they can be checked out for two hours and used only in the Library.

To borrow a reserve textbook, you'll need to check the Library's online catalog:

  • to see if we have the book and
  • to find the book's call number.

The call number marks the location of the book on the shelves at the Reserve Desk on the 2nd floor (or in the stacks on the 3rd floor if the book is available to take home).

To learn how to look up a book and its call number in the Library catalog, you can:

  • watch the video to the right or
  • stop by the Reference desk where the Librarians would be happy to walk you through the steps.

Once you've got the call number, jot that on your syllabus or take a photo of the catalog record, and bring this to the Reserve Desk along with your activated OneCard ID. The friendly folks at the desk will take it from there.

Finding Textbooks (and Other Books)

To locate a textbook or other books in the Library, you'll need to search the Library's online catalog (CUNY+) to find the location and call number of the book.

The brief video below walks you through searching for books in the online catalog and where to find the location and call number.
