Criminal Justice: Finding Internet Sources

This page helps with research.

Evaluating Web Sources

The World Wide Web offers access to an enormous amount of information. It is important to evaluate critically the information that you find as a researcher. Here are a few points to consider:

Who created the site?

What credentials do they have that make them qualified to write on the topic?

Is the information accurate when checked against other sources?

Is it free from errors?

Is the information fact, opinion, or propaganda?

Is the author affiliated with an organization?

Is the publication date clearly stated?

Is it clear when the site was last updated and/or revised
